In John 17 we get to see inside the mind of Jesus. We see his thoughts and motivations as he prays his farewell prayer regarding the disciples and the ministry that continues to today of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth. Jesus reveals his desires for us individually and as a church to live and work together for our one true goal.
The book of John tells us that Jesus' disciples gave up everything to follow him, and when he shocked them with his announcement in chapter 13, he then comforted them in his words in chapters 14-17. We can look to these chapters as our instructions from Jesus for the cure for a troubled heart.
