Dr. Rusty Shuler
Rusty has over 25 years of ministry experience from missions to church planting to pastoring. He is passionate about the Word of God and believes there is not a more relevant book for life than the Bible! Rusty’s approach in preaching is very Biblical with the intent of showing how the Bible applies to everyday life.
Rusty and Angela have been married over 30 years. They have three grown children and currently, four grandchildren. And it is true – grandkids are great!!!
Outside the church, Rusty loves to fish and hunt (he is currently learning how to duck hunt.) He is also an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. And unfortunately, he is an OU Sooner football fan (much to Angela’s dismay as she graduated from Oklahoma State University).
Don and his wife, Jennifer are blessed with two sets of twins, Will and Caroline, Joshua and Jonathan. Don was born and raised in Shreveport. Jennifer is from Bastrop.
Bro. Don first came to Eastwood in August of 1985 serving as Minister of Music and Youth. A transition was made to serve as Minister of Music and Senior Adults in 1991. In the spring of 2016, Don transitioned to the role of Associate Pastor.
The impact of a Christian home provided a strong influence on his decision to become a Christian. He thanks God for his godly parents. It was in Don's early teenage years that God called him into the ministry.
Don feels that it is such a joy to work with the staff and the congregation of Eastwood as everyone serves God together.
Brad was saved by Jesus at the young age of 8 years old. At the age of 20 he surrendered and let go of all the plans/dreams that Brad had for his life. When God started controlling his life, He took Brad from ordinary living to extraordinary living. You should try it!
God brought Brad and his family to Haughton, LA and Eastwood Baptist Church in January of 2009. The Watson family really enjoys the down to earth people and family friendly atmosphere around Haughton. Brad also enjoys the amazing places to go bass fishing . If he is not at church or home, you can probably find Brad at Caddo, Cypress, Red River or Toledo Bend.
Brad is the proud father of two beautiful girls, Anna Grace and Makenzie, and Brad is married to his best friend, Leigh Ann. Brad and Leigh Ann share the same desire to glorify God in all that they do, especially by loving and discipling teenagers. Brad has been serving in youth ministry since 1999. He is 10 times more in love with God and youth ministry than he was when he started… Brad says that he is extremely blessed!
Brian has been married to Jana since 1998 and they have two daughters, Maggie and Emma. Brian and Jana are both from south Louisiana. They met and fell in love while attending McNeese State University in Lake Charles. Being new to the area, Brian and his family are enjoying North Louisiana life and culture.
Brian has been leading worship for over 20 years, serving churches in Louisiana and Texas. He is passionate about leading God’s people to worship Abba Father in spirit and in truth. The authentic worshipers at Eastwood inspire Brian as he looks forward to gathering with them every Sunday.
Additionally, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, duck hunting, playing games, watching movies and telling corny jokes.
Susan has served in Children’s Ministry for 12 years and in April of 2016 God led her to Eastwood to serve as Children’s Minister.
She has been married to Steven for 27 years and they have two daughters and a granddaughter who is 4 years old. When they are not hanging out at church with children, they enjoy spending time with their granddaughter.
Steven is a high school teacher and serves in the Children’s Ministry at Eastwood with Susan. Susan and Steve look forward to building relationships with children and their parents so that they have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Leaonda Palmer wears many hats at Eastwood. On Sundays she is the Nursery and Preschool Coordinator. During the week, Leaonda can also be found on the Eastwood Campus as the Director of Eastwood Childcare Center. Leaonda has been involved with Children's Ministry for many years. She surrendered her life to full time ministry when she was 21 years old. Since then, Leaonda has been working full time in church daycares, children's ministry, and preschool ministry since she surrendered. Children are her passion! She loves sharing the story of Christ with them, and watching them grow into young men and women.
Leaonda does not ever serve alone, her entire family is involved as well, her husband of 13 years, David, and her four children, Erica, Darcie, Darla, and Drew. Whether it's through prayer, fixing things, encouragement, or loving on children with her, Leaonda's family does it ALL.
