The most common way for people to come to know Jesus is through friends and family. In fact the idea of family in the New Testament (oikos) includes all of those with whom you are in regular contact. These are the people we should focus on in our "being and making" vision.

Acts 10:1-35 Jews had set up a whole system of laws to separate themselves from the Gentile world in which they existed. In Acts 10, Peter is told by God to disregard these laws because salvation is now open to anyone who believes (Jew or Gentile). We must likewise let down our guard against people who might not be "our type" of Christian so we can share the good news of Jesus with them.

Acts 5:1-11 When Luke closes Acts 4, we see great grace taking place, as the church is meeting together daily and taking care of each other. Then in Acts 5 things get real! Ananias and Sapphira commit one of God's pet peeves... hypocrisy, and their punishment is swift. God shows that being a member of His family is no game.

Acts 8 In Acts we see God building and training the church for the new mission to the ends of the earth. We see Phillip in verses 26-40 is excited to share with others... we should feel the same way!
