Luke 6: 46-49 Myth 1: It doesn't matter what you believe as long as you are sincere. In Luke's version of this parable, both men believe they are building their houses in a good way... you wouldn't build a bad house on purpose. The problem was literally the foundation that their beliefs were based upon. When we base our beliefs on God's Word, we have a strong foundation because of God's infinite knowledge and wisdom, not the ever-evolving knowledge of the world.
